Lennie Lyons was first introduced to flying while attending Ohio University in Athens Ohio. His roommate was a Flight Instructor and it piqued his interest. Part of the requirements for his the Bachelor degree included taking at least 90 hours of subjects not related to business. He took his interest of flying and began taking aviation courses which led to a degree in Aviation Technology including all the ratings for single and multi-engine instructor. He was able to work as a Flight Instructor while finishing the final two years of his degree in Business.
After college Lenny worked as a Flight Instructor, Charter Pilot, and check hauler until meeting the requirements for an airline pilot. He was accepted at the airlines, where he flew as a First Officer and upgraded to a Captain with an ATP certificate and type ratings in a SSA 227 Metro, EMB-120 Brasilia and CRJ 65/70 jet. Lenny also was an airline instructor, check airman and FAA designated examiner before taking an early retirement from Delta Connection Airline in 2007.
His love of flying will not let him truly retire, so he is a proud part of Flight Training Professionals. He is also a Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser and is USPAP Certified. He certainly isn’t ready to retire yet.
