Lennie Lyons was first introduced to flying while attending Ohio University in Athens Ohio. I had a room mate that was a flight instructor, he gave me an interest in flying. As part of the requirements for the bachelor degree I was required to take at least 90 hours of subjects not related to business. I took the flying interest and began taking courses related to flying, this led to a degree in Aviation technology including all the ratings for single and multi-engine instructor. I was able to use this to work as a flight instructor while finishing the final two years of the bachelor degree in business.
After college I worked as a flight instructor, charter pilot, and check hauler until meeting the requirements for an airline pilot. I was accepted at the airlines, where I flew as a first officer, upgraded to a captain with an ATP certificate and type ratings in an SSA 227 Metro, An EMB-120 Brasilia, an CRJ 65/70 jet. I also was an airline instructor, check airman, and FAA designated examiner before taking an early retirement from Delta Connection Airline in 2007.
My love of flying will not let me truly retire, so I am now a proud part of Flight Training Professionals, Sovereign Air, Chief Pilot of a Charter Air transport Company, and a Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser, USPAP Certified, Whew, Like I said not ready to retire yet!!!
